Company: GXO
Role: Supply Chain Management Degree Apprentice
I’m Harvey Beck and I’m a current degree apprentice in my second year. I have been with the company now for 16 months and I am currently on placement at Asda Doncaster. Over the past 16 months at Asda Doncaster, I have worked in a range of departments, from the People Team to Goods Out, and Goods In. The final department I’ll be working on is Health and Safety. Before I joined , I expected that no two days would be the same, and that I would learn about all departments. What I enjoy most about the programme is that everyvday is a different challenge to the day prior. Another thing I enjoy is the opportunities that come up; at the start of 2023, I had the opportunity to go to the Houses of Parliament and listen to the Minister for Transport talk about the logistics sector. Over the past 16 months, I have learnt many skills and developed many skills, such as interpersonal skills, time management and planning skills. I believe my biggest development has been in decision making and risk management. When thinking about my future, I am most excited about broadening my knowledge on different departments or sectors. The advice I would give future degree apprentices is to get involved, and don’t shy away from any challenges. You will learn most when doing something that challenges you.
